What do we mean by Mobility First? As babies, we’re born with more mobility in our bodies than we know what to do with or can even manage. Our joints are pliable and our muscles are like jello. As we get older and more physically mature we develop certain movement patterns and with those patterns comes a loss of some of that innate mobility.
Unfortunately for many of us adults, we lose more mobility than we should and that makes doing things we used to take for granted like; getting up off the floor, climbing up and down stairs or even pulling our coats or sweaters on and off much more challenging if not downright impossible. That’s why, at MOVE, one of the first things we work on as part of our corrective exercise strategies is helping people achieve improved mobility. There are a number of ways we can help you do that including soft tissue work like foam rolling, active and passive muscle flexibility exercises and integrated joint and muscle mobility exercises, all of which can help you to restore the mobility needed to overcome some of the barriers to the movements and activities you need and enjoy. Below are links to videos of just two of the many mobility exercises we utilize at MOVE as part of an overall personalized MOVEment plan.
